Flashing red light on IQOS ILUMA: What does it mean and how to solve it?
Meaning of the flashing red light of IQOS ILUMA
Why does a red light appear on your IQOS ILUMA device?
- Firmware update failure: a previous attempt to update the firmware may not have been completed successfully.
- Device needs to reboot: over time, small errors can accumulate, causing the device to need a reboot to function optimally.
- Interference from proximity to a magnet: being near a magnet can affect the calibration of your device, activating the flashing red light on your IQOS ILUMA.
- Slow charging: the red light on the pocket charger of your IQOS ILUMA or IQOS ILUMA Prime may indicate that the holder is charging slowly. This commonly occurs when there is a build-up of dust or lint in the contact areas, making charging difficult.
How to stop the IQOS ILUMA red light from flashing
- Try updating the device firmware again: The IQOS firmware FAQ can help you in this process.
- Make sure there are no magnets nearby: check that your IQOS ILUMA device, especially the end of the holder through which the tobacco unit is inserted, is not near a magnet.
- Inspect the holder: make sure that the holder is well positioned inside the pocket charger and that the contacts between the two are clean.
- With the holder inside the pocket charger, press and hold the button for 4 seconds to turn off the device.
- Remove the holder and gently blow on the contact areas.
- Use a soft cloth to remove any lingering debris.
- Reset the device: If you know for sure that your IQOS ILUMA device is correctly updated to the latest firmware version, the contacts are clean and there is no magnet nearby, the best way to solve the problem is to reset the device. Resetting the device can be a simple, yet effective way to solve different problems.
How to reboot the device?
- Place the holder in the pocket charger. Skip this step if your device is a one-piece IQOS ILUMA ONE.
- Press and hold the on/off button for 10 seconds until the bar lights turn off.
- The reset is confirmed when the bar lights turn back on and the device vibrates.
