IQOS in the sun: what to do in case of overheating

Summer is here, you are planning your holiday, and you want to travel with an IQOS device. Check out our tips to prevent your IQOS device from overheating in the sun.

Why should you not risk overheating your IQOS under the sun?

The arrival of summer often coincides with spending more time outdoors. It could happen that you leave your IQOS device exposed to sunlight or near heat sources for a long time. Or you might leave your tobacco heater in the passenger compartment of your car during a journey or on a table in the open air.
These are just some of the situations we advise you to avoid, as IQOS products are electronic devices, these situations could compromise the parts that make up the devices and in addition could damage or deteriorate the lithium-ion battery.
For these reasons, our advice is to always store your IQOS in your pocket or bag and protect it from direct exposure to sunlight.

How to tell if your device has overheated

IQOS devices are innovative devices that are a combination of science and technology, which is why IQOS has designed features to help all adult smokers who use it have a better experience.
Therefore, in case your device has overheated, flashing white lights will help you realize that your IQOS is out of its usual temperature range.

The correct operating temperature range is between 0°C and 40°C for IQOS ILUMA devices. Depending on the device you are using, IQOS will warn you that it is out of the temperature range:

  • IQOS ILUMA pocket charger: the bottom light of the pocket charger flashes white.
  • IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA ONE pocket charger: lights flash 2 times white.

Additional tips to avoid IQOS device overheating:

  • Do not use, charge or store the IQOS ILUMA in places with high temperatures.
  • Do not touch the IQOS ILUMA and/or its accessories if they become hot, generate sparks, emit smoke, catch fire or burn. If applicable and possible, switch off or disconnect the power supply with extreme caution.
  • Do not expose the IQOS device to high humidity or direct sunlight.

What to do if your IQOS Device does not work from overheating

IQOS devices are not designed to operate outside standard temperatures. Therefore, should your device fail to turn on or function properly because of prolonged exposure to sunlight, or other heat sources, the warranty will not cover this type of damage.
