Technovation is a day celebrated by Philip Morris International last October, where it became clear how disruptive thinking, solid science, innovation and technology are driving the development of smoke-free products.

This meeting was held at the Cube, Philip Morris’ R&D centre: a modern building whose glass facade reflects the sky and the waters of Lake Neuchâtel and where more than 430 experts and 300 highly qualified scientists work on the development of innovative ideas and alternative solutions, turning tobacco products on their head.

The heat-not burn technology is an innovative system based on the heating of tobacco that has managed to leave behind traditional combustion of cigarettes and its inconvenient side effects. In 2014 Philip Morris International introduced IQOS, the first device that would use this innovative technology and that would revolutionise the tobacco industry.
