Why IQOS does not produce tar and other benefits

What is tar?
Tar is the residue from smoke after a cigarette is burned.
IQOS does not produce tar because it heats tobacco instead of burning it. It generates an aerosol residue that is fundamentally different from tar and consists of significantly lower levels of harmful chemicals.*

Other benefits of using IQOS
No fire
Essentially, there's no tar because there's no fire. The burning of tobacco in a traditional cigarette generates higher levels of toxic substances than heating tobacco. With IQOS, thanks to our HeatControl™ technology, the device heats tobacco to significantly lower temperatures and therefore doesn´t burn it.
The IQOS device eliminates this process thanks to its revolutionary tobacco heating technology. IQOS emits on average 95% lower levels of harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.*

Does not produce high amounts of carbon monoxide
Cigarettes burn tobacco, which produces high amounts of carbon monoxide.
IQOS doesn’t burn tobacco, producing on average 98% less carbon monoxide (CO) and significantly lower levels of other harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.*

No ash, no smoke
Burning tobacco generates smoke and ash. Heating it without burning it does not. When you use IQOS you’ll have a cleaner experience, because, as well as producing neither smoke nor ash, the IQOS device leaves less lingering smell on hands, hair and clothes than cigarettes.
As IQOS produces less smell than cigarettes, it is less likely to bother people around you.
Also, IQOS leaves significantly less stains on your teeth* than cigarettes.
Important information: If teeth are already stained, switching to IQOS will not reverse the color of those stains.
